Outside the House...

Sorry for the lack of blogging lately, it appears that there has been somewhat of a lack of blogging taking place in August. I have been busy with outdoor work around the house- mainly painting. The photographs below are not very good but I just took them to show you the colours we have chosen. Do you like them? I thought that the Connecticut Blue looks good with the main colour and our stone. Our stone piers are also complete at the entrance. Now once the painting is finished we have the driveway and fence along the side to finish.
Have you been busy in August? What have you got up to?

Goodbye Summer Time...

I got this lovely gift last week, it is a lovely knitted throw made from really vibrant colours. I am looking forward to using it in the winter months when the weather is chilly. The Autumn is already beginning to slowly creep in here in Ireland. The evenings are getting shorter and much cooler. I don't mind the Autumn time, I love the trees changing colours and the crisp air. I light the log burning stove and cosy up at the fire with a big mug of tea, some blogging or a good book. We had a great Summer here in Ireland this year, the weather has been so good with lots of sunshine and heat. We got our garden almost completed now and the painting of the exterior of the house is coming along well. What have you got up to this Summer?

One of the Treasures of Ireland... Castle Leslie

So I said I would post some of my photographs from my visit to Castle Leslie for Afternoon tea on Sunday. It is really one of Ireland's treasures- such a wonderful setting and so unique! The architecture and interiors are amazing! It tops all of the historic country homes/castles I have visited in Ireland and I have visited a lot! Those of you who read my blog will be aware that I love visiting heritage sites in the Irish Countryside. So to begin my tour of the Castle, below are a few photos....

Firstly the music room- full of lovely paintings and photos with stunning views over the lake..
The enchanting Blue Room where afternoon tea was served! The wallpaper was so detailed and it was the perfect setting for tea with views out over the gardens...

We visited the library but didn't have time to read any books. I did spot a photograph on the shelf of Uncle Jack Leslie though...

Below are some photographs of the cocktail bar area in the long room and the dining room...

Another image of the library and to the right is a fire place in the toilets! Yes that is the ladies toilets..

And finally a view of the main entrance...

If you haven't visited yet, make sure to put it on your "To Do List". Glaslough village is really quaint as well so make a day of it! Also if you want to visit the castle for tea or food, make sure you book in advance! To see some more images of the village visit my previous post Glaslough Village, Monaghan, Ireland... Pretty as a Picture or for more information on Castle Leslie visit their website
P.S for anyone that wants a wonderful setting for a wedding, you should visit Castle Leslie, and no I am not getting commission!

Tea Time....

Hello everyone, I hope you are all enjoying the Summer time. The weather has changed here today and it has started to rain. We are currently painting the outside of the house. I am taking a day off work tomorrow to relax. Have you any nice plans for the weekend? I'm off to Castle Leslie for Afternoon Tea which is a nice treat. You know how much I love tea.... I hope to take lots of nice photographs but just to give you a taster of what it might be like, here are some nice Afternoon Tea inspired images...

Playing in the sand...

This weekend I met up with some friends in the city and came across these sand sculptures at Dublin Castle. They are truly works of art! We also visited my friends exhibition in the Civic Trust and the National Museum for a short while. Then tea and cake in Avoca :) Hope you are having a nice weekend. It is a long weekend here in Ireland so I am looking forward to my day off tomorrow.

An update on our Guest Bedroom...

As some of you may have read on my blog previously, I was unsure what to do with the white guest bedroom. In the end I decided to buy fabric and get a roman blind, cushions and a runner for the bed made. I bought Forest Friends fabric from Prestigious Textiles and my aunt made all of the items. I think it looks good now. Apologies the light isn't good in the photographs, it's dull enough here this week. I will take some photos of the roman blind for you as well, but for now here is the finished room. All I need now is something nice to hang on the wall over the bed.
